Helping Paws Rescue Mission Statement

In October of 2002, Helping Paws Rescue was formed. Helping Paws Rescue is a non-profit group designed to provide temporary homes for stray, abandoned and abused animals until a quality, permanent home can be found. Foster homes are provided by area volunteers. The main foster home is in Broadalbin and is managed by Karen M. Kiaunis, LVT and Christel Krauss.

Once an animal is surrendered or recovered, Helping Paws Rescue provides for any of the animals medical needs through a local veterinarian. For example, when a cat is surrendered or recovered, it is Felv/FIV tested, wormed, vaccinated and spayed/neutered (if age appropriate). Helping Paws Rescue is a boundary-less organization and is open to all animals in need, regardless of residing county or species.

Helping Paws Rescue is a non-profit group, which only seeks to recover cost through public support. Monthly adoption clinics are held at Country Acres Farm and Pet Center in Burnt Hills. Helping Paws Rescue also holds monthly fundraiser's to help recover costs and promote spay and neuter education. Helping Paws Rescue also helps disabled, senior and compromised income families with the spay/neuter needs of their pets, as funding permits.

RALPH-This is Ralph. He is a year and a half old neutered male. He has been with us about a year and really desreves a home of his own. Ralph was living in a garage before he came to us, but now has decided he much prefers the comfort of the couch! Ralph likes to voice is opinions much like a Siamese. He loves the company of other cats and children.
BUDDY-Buddy is a mix of possibly Chow, Akita, or Norwegian Elkhound (?). Buddy is about 2 years old and full of life. He is a real cutey with one ear up and one down with a curled tail. Buddy is a medium sized dog at around 40 pounds. He was surrendered because his previous owner did not have the time Buddy and left tied outside on his own. Buddy is now mostly housebroken, but does have some accidents. He is still learning basic manners (sit, come, etc). He's come a long way since coming to the rescue and with someone able to spend more time with him on a daily basis, he will do even better. Buddy is lovable and good with kids and other dogs, but NO CATS!
