GOOD SHEPHERD K9 RESCUE
About Good Shepherd K9 Rescue
Good Shepherd K9 Rescue is a small, all volunteer, not for profit, group dedicated to finding homes for dogs in need. Located just outside Saratoga, New York, the organization was originally formed to rescue German Shepherds. However, we soon found that our hearts were big enough to encompass any breed (including mixed breeds) in need of rescuing.
We rescue adoptable dogs from animal shelters that are scheduled to be euthanized. These dogs are taken into our homes where they receive vet care, are groomed and most of all given lots of love. Their temperaments are evaluated in order to place them in the right home.
We also provide referral service for owners needing to relocate their dog. Due to our limited number of foster homes we cannot always take in owner surrenders. We have an article on our web site "Find a Home for Your Dog" which contains helpful information regarding placing a pet. We are happy to list any dog on our web site, free of charge, however it remains the responsibility of the owner to ensure their pet goes to the best possible home. To list a dog with us e-mail email@example.com or call either (518) 393-0755. For best results a picture plus a full description of the dog should be included.
Anyone interested in adopting one of our foster dogs can review our Animal Placement and Adoption Agreement to ensure they can accept our conditions for adoption. If the adoption conditions are acceptable the application can be filled out and mailed to the address listed at the top of the Adoption Application.
We normally require an adoption fee of $300. This only partially covers our expenses. All dogs are vet checked, spayed/neutered (with the exception of puppies under 6 months), are up-to-date on shots, dewormed and heartworm checked prior to placement. We are always in need of monetary donations to help with our expenses. Some of our rescues have cost us from $300 - $2700 in vet expenses. We can also use donations of large crates, old blankets and large towels. WE ALSO ARE IN NEED OF WXCELLENT DEPENDABLE FOSTER HOMES.
Anyone having questions regarding our group or dogs available for adoption can e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org or (518) 393-0755.
We believe it is our responsibility as human beings to ensure the safety and wellness of the creatures entrusted to us. Animals have no voice in our world. They depend on the few people who hear their cries for help... .and respond. Our motto is "MAKING A DIFFERENCE 4 PAWS AT A TIME."
