OUR HEAVENLY HOTDOG WAGON

The Heavenly Hotdog Wagon makes six fundraising excursions during the year. Our volunteers clean and inspect the Wagon before each of its events, move it to its new temporary location, cook and sell its wares, move it back to its parking spot, and clean it again. Since all of the fundraising events take place from May to August, the Wagon has a fairly active schedule before it retires for a much needed rest in September. The Hotdog Wagon requires a large assortment of volunteers for it to function properly. If you have ever refrained from participating because you were unsure of what you might be asked to do, please follow this link for more information on the duties of our volunteers.       To Hot Dog Wagon Help List

St. James' is always grateful to our loyal workers who pitch in and get the job done. We are happy to say that each event seems to generate great comraderie among our volunteers which is then passed along to our patrons. Spread the cheer! If you would like to volunteer to work in the Wagon at any or all of the following events, please call the office at 668-2001. We would be more than pleased to place your name on our volunteer list.

MAY - SPRING CRAFT FAIR: The Hotdog Wagon makes its first appearance each year at the Annual Craft Fair on the lawn of St. James'. After its long hiatus over the winter, it receives a vigorous cleaning, painting and inspection before its debut. The Craft Fair coincides with Canadian Friendship Week in Lake George Village, so although it's a little early in the season, the Village will be quite full for the occasion. JUNE - AMERICADE: The early part of June (June 2nd - 7th) finds the Hotdog Wagon down on the Beach Road in the Village participating in Americade. The Wagon's crew rises very early in the morning (6:30 - 9:00 a.m.) to serve coffee, water, soda, doughnuts, fruit and baked goods to our friendly bikers who are leaving for tours. The weather dictates what will send the Wagon's runners scurrying back to the St. James' kitchen to replenish; water for warm weather, coffee for cool. Either way our fun-loving bikers do not allow a little inclement weather to bother them and neither do we!         Back to Top of List

JUNE - THE FIRE CHIEFS’ CONVENTION: This year the Fire Chiefs’ Convention kicks off on June 12th and runs through the 14th. For more information, you may visit the chiefs at www.nysfirechiefs.com.        Back to Top of List

JUNE - 21st ANNUAL SUMMERFEST: During the Summerfest (Craft Weekend) (June 27 - 29, 2008) the Hotdog Wagon finds its way down into the Village where our crew meets a large group of craft vendors with some very interesting creations to sell. These clever people are always a welcome sight in Lake George and the Wagon settles down quite nicely in their midst to serve up our heavenly hot dogs, beverages and snacks.        Back to Top of List

JULY - AUCTION: Stationed on the church lawn during our annual Auction on the third Wednesday of July (July 16, 2008), the Hot Dog Wagon opens early to accommodate our volunteers, then caters to our Auction patrons. The charged atmosphere of the Auction is transferred to the Wagon and everyone has a truly enjoyable evening under the direction of the talented auctioneer, Martin Seelye.        Back to Top of List

AUGUST - FAMILY FESTIVAL: The Family Festival begins around the third week of August (August 15-17, 2008) in the Village of Lake George. The Hot Dog Wagon joins in enthusiastically, however due to the length of the Festival, the Hot Dog Wagon requires more volunteers than on previous outings. On Friday and Saturday, the Hot Dog Wagon is open from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to work beside old friends and to meet new ones.        Back to Top of List
