THE RECTOR'S MESSAGE
from the Spring (April/May 2008) Fisherman
|
|
As I write this last Fisherman article before leaving on sabbatical, there are lots of thoughts and feelings running through my head. I am very much looking forward to this time of relaxation and refreshment, though I will miss you all as individuals, and as my faith community.
I have some trips planned, the most notable being my pilgrimage to England from April 17th-28th. The itinerary for that trip is posted on the church bulletin board for anyone who is interested.
Spring is a busy, fun time at St. James’, and that will not change because I am away. I encourage you all to keep up your faithful attendance, and to be a friend and support to Fr. Larry during his time among you.
Your vestry and lay leaders, also, will need your energy and support as we welcome new members, returning summer friends, and our heavenly hot dog wagon comes out of hibernation.
An important aspect of Jesus’ command to love our neighbors is simply being there for one another, cooperating in all parts of our life together as a faith community. Our viability as a full-time parish depends greatly upon the success of these endeavors, so come and join the fun!
If you are in need of pastoral care, or have questions or concerns in my absence, please do not hesitate to call Fr. Larry, Bonnie, Tracey and Mary, our wardens, or any vestry member. You can reach Fr. Larry either through the office, or by calling the rectory at 668-3503.
Please keep me in your prayers in these next three months, as you will be in mine. Live out your calling as active, joyful ambassadors for Christ! I will look forward to breaking bread with you again on July 6th!
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God our Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you and among you until we meet again!
Faithfully and affectionately, Julie
