Ed. Lange, a member of SSDC (the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers), is the associate artistic director of NYSTI, the NYS Theatre Institute. During the course of his career, he has directed approximately 50 fully mounted productions, and numerous staged readings. Prior to joining the Theatre Institute in 1981, Lange was head of the directing program at Central Connecticut State University, and before that was a member of the theatre faculty at Allegheny College. At NYSTI, Lange has worked with many playwrights and directed several premieres. His work has been published in a number of magazines, some on multiple occasions, including American Theatre, Sail, Dramatics, Soundings and others.
When not at the theatre or writing, Ed often can be found sailing aboard Valkyrie (photo), a fast and powerful CS30 (photo), on Long Island Sound with his wife, Linda (photo), (an elementary school teacher-librarian). Until recently they had been joined by their daughter, Kate (photo), who spent a year in Puget Sound working with AmeriCorps and is currently attending the University of Vermont to study environmental science.
