64) 'WHITE_COCKADE' (New Dawn descent)_Climbing Rose, zone5 (-20), 6'x8', rep, white, scent3, 0/0(1999), zone 5 short climber to 6 or 8 feet. makes a nice split rail fence climber or arching shrub, strong bloom in spring and fall with some repeat between, 0/0(1999) refers to the fact that our White Cockade planted in the natural garden is free of blackspot and mildew at Azalea House while disease susceptible cultivars within 20 feet have it badly. White Cockade showed evidence of leaf yellowing from blackspot initially, before it was established or in responce to stress. So, on established plants in well drained garden soil, water regularly and mulch with compost, you should not have problems. We have around 15 in 1 gallon pots (own root) as of August 2005 (AV).
I'm Andrew Van Cleve, chief grower at Azalea House Flowering Shrub Farm, and I grow flowering shrubs without fungicide to reveal truly disease resistant plants. I am providing time honored, proven shrubs that are disease resistant locally.
